With the new AWOLNATION song out, I thought it would be interesting to see what y'all think about the other songs that Rivers was featured in (I decided to just do the ones he sings in. Apparently he has helped write a lot of songs). Here is the list that I could come up with: Stupid Girl - Cold. I Suck - Mark Ronson. Inspiration - AM Radio.
Originally written in June of 1993, the demo for the song, released on Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo, features a slower tempo. In the liner notes for Alone, Cuomo explained how he was inspired to write the song after a friend from his choir lent him a Korg keyboard.
Rivers Cuomo is a longtime Monkees fan. “I’ve always felt a personal connection to the Monkees because I’m from the same small New England farm town as Peter Tork,” he writes in the album.

Rivers: I think we picked the very best 12 songs for MB (with the possible exception of the omission of Unbreak my Heart.) throughout the epic 2.5 year process of writing songs for that album I had a number of different A-list CDS that were nothing more than the 12 songs that I happened to want to listen to more than any other. Nothing was ever set in stone until we did the big song election.
